The Congressional Debate Workshop
The ISD Congressional Debate Workshop offers students a comprehensive program of skills and content to enable competitive success and more meaningful citizenship. The ISD Congressional Debate instructors use political science, legal and public policy resources to provide a sound and comprehensive program for our students. The ISD Congressional Debate Workshop also provides numerous structured practice opportunities to put their new skills and knowledge into practice.
The ISD Congressional Debate Workshop features some of the most successful Congressional Debate coaches to instruct our students. Our teachers are experienced educators with a significant history of students placing in the final rounds of the leading Congressional Debate tournaments.
The daily schedule will feature content lectures and mini-Congressional Debate sessions. Research techniques, in-round strategy, bill writing, parliamentary procedure, style and rhetoric are also presented. Final Round strategies, including scenario preparation, are also carefully considered. Fully critiqued Congressional Debate sessions will occur during the Workshop.
We offer a flexible schedule and options to meet the needs of all students. Students are encouraged to reside on campus, but may choose to commute to the Institute. For Congressional Debate in 2017, we offer both a one-week and two-week option.
